Introduction to Qieth’s Quips

I suppose it would be in order to start out the blog by giving a brief introduction to myself.

Before World of Warcraft, I had been playing Anarchy Online. Oh, those were the days. I snigger a bit whenever people talk about their WoW twinks, because Anarchy Online was actual, hardcore twinking. I played for about a year and a half, before World of Warcraft came and ruined everything.

I managed to get two hours of playtime on the US beta before the servers shut down. Later, when the Beta started in Europe, i had a few weeks of fun to actually test it out – on my female night elf hunter. Yeah, I am that kind of person too. Once the game came out in Europe, i decided that since 80% of WoW’s population was female nelf hunters, I would certainly not be one of those, and I rolled a gnome warlock instead.

Helios, my little gnome, was in retrospect a giant newbie for his small size. I sort of just pressed some buttons until things died. I managed to get him to level 55 before I ditched him and made an undead priest. As I got to level 60, i started doing some casual raiding as a healer – it’s not like I had much choice back then, right? Healing wasn’t intensely hard back in the days, because it usually involved clicking the macro for EZheal (a mod that would simply cast flash heal on the person with the lowest health), and everybody was doing this. Bosses was a bit more difficult, with pauses during the fight to regen mana, but it generally wasn’t very stressfull. I made it up to stare at The Twins in AQ40 and then The Burning Crusade came out – and broke the wonderfull addon.

In TBC I leveled my priest to 70, but after just a few Karazan runs, I decided that i wasn’t really enjoying myself. I rolled a belf hunter (female, naturally) and said goodbye to my guild. Once I made it to 70 with this character, I started raiding. I must admit, I have been in quite a lot of guilds on my hunter – mostly because they have folded, and I have then moved on to the next guild that would take me in. In the end I ended up in Doomhammer EU’s best horde guild: Inevitable. At this point Inevitable was halfway through Black Temple, and I was a pretty damn good hunter.

I started getting more involved with the WoW community – I posted a lot on the hunter forums, and eventually wrote two guides: Guide to raiding with your Pet (under the name Zoa), which was basicly a “Here’s how to make sure Mittens survive”-wall of text, and later a guide under my hunters current name called “Aym’s Comprehensive All-In-One Hunter Guide”.

When we were facing the Twins in Sunwell Plateau, I decided that WoW was taking too much of my time, and I decided to quit. It only lasted about a month, and on a boring saturday afternoon I decided to reactivate my account. While I had been playing on my hunter, I had somehow managed to get a druid to level 70 aswell, and I logged into Qieth to have some fun. I found a small guild called Saints & Sinners and raided Karazan with them as the main tank. I eventually took over raid leading, and we had a bit of fun with Karazan and Zul’Aman.

Then came WOTLK, and I leveled my druid to 80. We decided to rename the guild to And Friends, and I officially took over the Guild Master mantle. We were still a very small guild, with only 14 active raiders, so we obviously stuck to 10 mans on a regular basis. We made it through Naxxramas, Sartharion, Malygos and all the way up to some annoying 8% wipes on Yogg-Saron, but we were generally a very casual guild. It was a bit too casual, though, and when we started having more cancelled raids than actual raids, I decided it was time to look for a new place.

Throughout my raiding I had picked up a healthy amount of moonkin gear, and a friend and I made a post on the official WoW forums, looking for guilds that would be interested in receiving an applicaiton from both of us – finding a guild that will take in both a moonkin and a warlock sounded difficult, but it didn’t take long until we were approached by the guild master of Escapism on Hellscream EU. We wrote them an application, we got accepted, and i had a new home in a guild with a good position on the server, who had done a good handfull of the first Ulduar 25 hard modes. My gear being a mix of Naxx and Ulduar 10 moonkin gear was a bit behind, but seeing as I am quite dedicated to playing my best, it wasn’t a massive problem once I started getting some gear.

I still remain in Escapism, and I am now the caster classmaster, trying to organise all our manaburners. It’s a great guild really, where I have made a lot of very nice friends and where we have made some amazing progress. Escapism in its current form has only been around for 6 months, and just a few weeks ago we completed Heroic GOTUR. Our TOTGC progress is quite astonoshing aswell, as we are now just glaring at the blank, blue husk of Anub’Arak. He will go down shortly.

So whats the deal with this blog? Well, I frequent the forums quite often – mostly MMO-Champions druid forums – and I enjoy sharing my viewpoints with other people. I thought about making an actual moonkin guide, but it didn’t quite satisfy my need to sort of getting my thoughts out there. Thus, I decided that this blog would be the home of my ramblings – talk about moonkin changes, (simple) theorycrafting, a bit of whining, a spot of news from my experiences playing and whatever else might come along.

I hope you enjoy your stay, and that you will participate in the topics i put up.
