Lich King 9% wipe!

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

As you know, my new guild only does 25 man runs three days each week, and tonight we stepped in for our second full night on Lich King. Two hours in, and we had him down to 9%, but we wiped for unknown reasons.

We were so disheartened that we simply released and ended the raid.

Interview with Lappé

Friday, February 12th, 2010

No doubt many of us are closely following progression in heroic Icecrown Citadel. There are a lot of guilds gunning for the position for the best guild in the world.

Ahead of everybody else is Paragon from Lightnings Blade EU, and I hooked up with their very own moonkin Lappé for a little chat.

Icecrown Citadel Survival Guide (video)

I wanted to make a video compilation of the fights in Icecrown Citadel, with tips and tricks to increase your damage. So I did. Click “Read the rest of this entry »” to see a written transcript of what I talk about in the video.

Icecrown Citadel, take two!

Friday, January 8th, 2010

The second wing of Icecrown Citadel is out, and it’s time to take a look at it our current status!

A few days ago, I QQ’ed a bit over how easy Icecrown Citadel was. I pointed out how easely people that had just farmed badges could go in and get highlevel gear. I complained about the lack of challenge in *the* endgame raid of the expansion. I thought it was just a bit weak. And it seems that Blizzard thought it was time to kick it up a notch too!

Most PUGs, I hear, don’t make it past Saurfang. I guess the coordination is a bit too much to ask for at this stage – sort of like expecting a PUG to get the mages out on Hodir. And even if they do manage to get down Saurfang, they are now facing an even bigger challenge: The Plagueworks!

Interface and addons

Friday, December 18th, 2009

I figured it might be a good idea to cover my UI, and explain a bit which addons I use and why. I am very much like a grumpy old man when it comes to UI’s: If I don’t need them, I don’t want them. What this means is that I will discard addons that really doesn’t give me any benefit on a day to day basis. This is often addon’s that give me information that is not crucial, and only a single click away, but which takes up my screen so that I can see it right now.

You won’t see me use addons like Titanpanel/Fubar/Big Freaking Line In The Top Of My Screen. Why would I need to know how much gold I have right now, or what my coordinates are? When did we actually use coordinates? At best, we go on Wowhead and look at a map to find out NPC, and then we fly around the area. It’s even easier with 3.3, where the integrated quest system will help you out a bit. I play on a big, 24″ widescreen monitor. I enjoy watching the game. Why clutter it up with all sorts of distractions.

I once made the mistake of downloading an addon package. Man, that messed up my whole game; It changed my font, it changed my settings and it gave me a lot of addons that I really didn’t need. There was this one addon, which made a small version of your character in 3D, just from the front. That’s great and all, now I can look at the back and the front of my character at the same time, but why would I need that? Here is what I do need:
